I think I am going to have to rename this series since my baby is no longer a baby anymore! What?! I am so, so happy I recorded each month of Ryder’s first year because time flies and it is easy to forget how small they really were. Looking at newborn pictures of him is slightly unreal. Was he really that tiny?!
We kept it very low-key as far as birthdays go. We decided not to throw a big party. Actually, we didn’t throw any party. We bought a smash cake and the only people in attendance were me, Scott, and my mother. At first Ryder was not sure about the cake so I torn into it a bit and he started crying! It was probably because all attention was on him but eventually he started smiling and digging in.
Note to self: Feeding Ryder cake was a big mistake. He threw up that night all over himself and the crib!
Things Ryder is currently digging: turning off the DirectTV box (soooo annoying!), using his walker to cruise around the house (and attempt to run over Alphonse), dancing to the Hot Dog Dance from Mickey Mouse Club House, laughing when I say ‘No!’, wanting to eat everything mommy and daddy are eating, open and closing everything, saying “ut oh!”, and petting the dog.
This year has gone by in a flash and there are many days when he tries ever ounce of patience I have, but I love him more than anything. I am looking forward to watching him change even more from a baby into a little boy. Here is to another year, kiddo!
