Now that Ryder is 8 months old, I guess it is finally time to share his nursery. This post is pretty picture heavy, but I won’t apologize. I am very proud of Ryder’s room even though I feel like it isn’t completely finished. Maybe it”ll get completed before he moves into a big boy bed, haha. Most of his art work still needs frames and I need to find a cute trash can, rug, and a little side table to hold his humidifier. In some of the pictures, you can see that the humidifier is currently sitting on top of a plastic bin.
When I was only about 5 months pregnant, I decided the theme would be chevron, grey, and turquoise. Luckily for me, grey chevron (chevron in general, really) was everywhere I looked. We thought about painting the walls turquoise but I wasn’t sure how dark the room would feel so I looked at about 50 15 different shades of grey. It turns out I am very picky. I wanted a cool silver-grey, not a brown-grey or a blue-grey. The room is actually painted with Valspar Polished Silver and the color looks amazing! I love it so much we painted our bathroom the same color.
The dressers are from when I was a child. Scott and I were originally going to sell them but baby furniture is expensive, guys! Instead we sanded, repainted them white, and added chevron contact paper to line the drawers. I wanted to change the hardware too, but it is incredibly hard to find hardware with the right measurements so we spray painted the existing hardware with Rust-Oleum in Gloss Jade. I am not completely satisfied with that, but it works for now. We painted an existing bookshelf white and lined the back with some chevron fabric I purchased from Jo-Ann.
Some of my favorite pieces in Ryder’s room come from our amazing friends. The White Rabbit painting was a gift from my best friend’s mother, Ryder’s name above his crib is made out of Batman and Catwoman comics by one of my closest friends, and the onsie drawing of Scott and me was created by a friend during our baby shower. You guys, I am so lucky!
It wouldn’t be my son’s room if we didn’t throw in some nerdy items! I made the Triforce while I was pregnant, bought the Chibithulhu a few years ago, and the corgi pillow is from The Paper Mama. One the other shelf, we decided to collect some cars for when Ryder is a little older. I could not resist buying the Morris Mini – how perfect!
Ok, that will probably be one of the most picture heavy posts I ever do! Thanks for letting me share my little man’s room with you! If you have any questions about items in the room, leave a comment and I’ll try to remember where they all came from.
Do you spell the color g-r-a-y or g-r-e-y?
I typed it so many times in this post that I started to question why I choose the UK spelling. I am honestly not sure!
